8th Annual MooseFest Ramping up for 2011 – Dryden, Ontario

MooseFest events wrapped up in August with the Soap Box Derby races at their new venue on Colonization Hill. 2010 was a great year for Dryden with both MooseFest and the Centennial Celebrations. The community was overflowing with visitors and residents with many activities going on all around the community. Congratulations to all the organizers, planners and volunteers who made these festivals a great success in 2010.

The events are growing each year and excitement is building for 2011. MooseFest Inc. is a volunteer-operated non-profit umbrella organization here to help community organizations market their events and support new events and partners with resources and direction. MooseFest was established in 2003 as Dryden’s own summer festival. Designed to develop and foster community spirit, MooseFest strives to organize and promote events that benefit the community and increase tourist visitation to the area.

The Executive Committee, comprised of Devon MacKinnon, Audrey Robb, Dana Soucie and William Laidlaw, are recruiting new Executive members while also opening their doors to a Youth Representative. While gaining volunteer hours, this student will be given a budget to plan and organize their own event that will appeal to their demographic.

The Executive Committee thanks all the local clubs, businesses and volunteers who supported the MooseFest events this year and look forward to continued support in 2011, bringing active and healthy lifestyles to Dryden.

To become a part of growing MooseFest, join the Executive Committee at the AGM October 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express to submit event ideas, volunteer as a new director, or to find out more about becoming an event sponsor. To keep the momentum of 2010 rolling, the Committee is starting up early and have events confirmed already for 2011.

Unable to attend the AGM? Find out more about the 2011 Festival plans and role of a volunteer Director by contacting us at MooseFest@hotmail.com.

Sincerely,

Your MooseFest Inc. Group
